AGE SPOT (LIVER SPOT, SUN SPOT) REMOVAL

PRICE: FROM £55

Age Spots, also called Liver Spots, Sun Spots and Solar Lentigines, are small dark areas on your skin. They vary in size and usually appear on the face, hands, shoulders and arms — areas most exposed to the sun.

Age Spots are very common in adults older than 50, but younger people can get them too, especially if they spend a lot of time in the sun.

Age Spots can look like cancerous growths. But true Age Spots are harmless. You can help prevent Age Spots by regularly using sunscreen and avoiding the sun.

Age Spots are caused by overactive pigment cells. Ultraviolet (UV) light accelerates the production of melanin. On the areas of skin that have had years of frequent and prolonged sun exposure, Age Spots appear when melanin becomes "clumped" or is produced in high concentrations.

The use of commercial tanning lamps and tanning beds can also contribute to the development of age spots.

Treatment with Laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapies destroy melanin-producing cells (melanocytes) without damaging the skin's surface.

DOES AGE SPOT (LIVER SPOT, SUN SPOT) REMOVAL HURT?

The treatment relatively painless. You may feel minor discomfort during the short procedure.

IS AGE SPOT (LIVER SPOT, SUN SPOT) REMOVAL SAFE?

Age Spot removal is completely safe and is only carried out by a qualified Aesthetician in a clinical environment using Laser or IPL (Intense Pulse Light). We work to strict protocols exceeding all regulatory and clinical requirements.

WHERE ON MY BODY CAN I HAVE TREATMENT?

You can have Age Spots removed from anywhere on your body.

CAN I HAVE MY AGE SPOT (LIVER SPOT, SUN SPOT) REMOVED JUST BECAUSE I DON’T LIKE THE LOOK OF IT?

Unless your doctor feels there is a medical reason not to remove your Age Spots, we are happy to remove your Age Spots for cosmetic reasons. We remove Age Spots for a lot of clients who cannot receive the treatment on the NHS.

WHAT RESULTS WILL I SEE?

The treatment will fade your Age Spots over a period of several weeks. Multiple treatments may be required.

WILL THE AGE SPOT (LIVER SPOT, SUN SPOT) COME BACK?

The treatment will permanently remove the Age Spots. However, this will not stop Age Spots from reoccurring in other areas in the future.

WHAT ARE AGE SPOTS (LIVER SPOTS, SUN SPOTS)?

Age Spots are caused by overactive pigment cells. Ultraviolet (UV) light accelerates the production of melanin. On the areas of skin that have had years of frequent and prolonged sun exposure, age spots appear when melanin becomes "clumped" or is produced in high concentrations.

HOW DO YOU GET AGE SPOTS (LIVER SPOTS, SUN SPOTS)?

Anyone can develop age spots, but you may be more likely to develop Age Spots if you:

  • Have red hair and light skin

  • Have a history of frequent or intense sun exposure or sunburn

HOW WILL I FEEL DURING AGE SPOT (LIVER SPOT, SUN SPOT) REMOVAL?

At Aesthetics & Beauty we use Laser and IPL (Intense Pulse Light) to treat Age Spots. In general, IPL affects the lower layers of the skin, rather than the top. This allows it to reach deeper structures without burning the surface of the skin. You may experience some minor discomfort during the process.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER AGE SPOT (LIVER SPOT, SUN SPOT) REMOVAL?

To help avoid age spots and new spots after treatment, follow these tips for limiting your sun exposure:

  • Avoid the sun between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Because the sun's rays are most intense during this time, try to schedule outdoor activities for other times of the day.

  • Use sunscreen. Fifteen to 30 minutes before going outdoors, apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen that provides protection from both UVA and UVB light. Use a sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of at least 30. Apply sunscreen generously, and reapply every two hours — or more often if you're swimming or perspiring.

  • Cover up. For protection from the sun, wear tightly woven clothing that covers your arms and legs and a broad-brimmed hat, which provides more protection than does a baseball cap or golf visor.

Consider wearing clothing designed to provide sun protection. Look for clothes labeled with an ultraviolet protection factor (UPF) of 40 to 50 to get the best protection.
